Over 20 arcades in Kampala are set to be shut for failing to adhere to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The minister of Kampala, Betty Amongi, has today revealed that at the time inspection, the said arcades still had weak areas to rectify so as to conform to the standards.
The arcades were not observing social distance/overcrowding, no functional toilets, obstruction in corridors and poor ventilation.
These arcades will be closed until they conform to the SOPs.
Minister Amongi’s revelation comes days after the Minister of Transport, Gen Edward Katumba Wamala said government was considering shutting public transport as virus cases continue to spike.
Here are the arcades facing closure….
