Soroti Woman MP, Anna Adeke has lashed out at the Uganda Electoral Commission (EC), saying that it is the most embarrassing commission in the entire region.

Adeke said that she hopes EC has been learning and ready to imitate one of two things from Kenya’s IEBC, on how it conducted its general election which has been described by many analysts and electoral observers as free and fair.

“Uganda Electoral Commission, we all hope you have watched the Kenyan election. You are the most embarrassing commission in the entire region. Countries are making strides with their democracy and you are still holding kangaroo elections with your own supervisors involved in the ballot,” she noted in a brief statement.

Adeke made the remarks as the party campaigns for their candidate Kighema Alozius who is contesting in the forthcoming election in Busongora south constituency.

Opposition politicians have on several times accused the Electoral Commission of bias and favouring the National Resistance Movement (NRM) led by president Museveni

Adeke asked the commission for once to demonstrate transparency in the Busongora South by election.

“We know you will unfortunately repeat the same mistakes in Kasese two days from now. You are working with NRM structures yet you call yourselves an independent commission. The thunder that should strike you all should be so massive,” she noted.

She called upon all the people in Busongora South to support their candidate as he is the right candidate to front their agenda in the national assembly.

Despite chaos and a physical attack on Kenya’s top elections official, the IEBC yesterday evening announced Deputy President William Ruto as  nation’s fifth president.

In the tightly contested race Ruto garnered 50.49% against his close opponent Raila Odinga’s 48.85%.
