Renowned veteran comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi, real name Allan Mujuni, has reflected on one of the toughest years in his career.
Appearing in a YouTube interview, Amooti reflected on how, within a space of one year, he registered significant losses, including his beloved mother, who passed away in a tragic accident.
Less than a year later, he lost his very close friend and comedy partner, Paddy Bitama Ssali, who breathed his last at the cancer institute at Mulago National Referral Hospital early in January 2014 after a battle with cancer.
Bitama, being one of the founders of the group and one of the key factors that kept the crew together, his death led to the collapse of the Amarula Family owing to the financial disagreements in the same year.

The trials didn’t end there, as Amooti almost lost his children in a house fire, and luckily they successfully escaped with the help of the neighbours, but with injuries and property damage.

“In that year, I had so many problems; my mother died without falling sick, my house burnt down in the same year, And almost in the same year, I lost my best friend that we started comedy with, Paddy Bitama. Also, we split with the other guys we started with in the Amarula family,” he said.
