Singer Maro, real name Ronald Magada, has opened up about his exit from Firebase Crew, which he says was highly influenced by his father.
Maro joined the music industry in 2010 with his breakthrough song ‘Toneeraga’ alongside Mikie Wine and Empress under Bobi Wine’s Firebase Crew.
During his interview with Sanyuka TV, Maro revealed that the song created a bigger platform for him, gaining him more fans who were eager to listen to what he was dropping next.
It was then that Mikie Wine spotted him too and gave him more collaborations. Not long before, however, Maro exited Firebase Crew, joining Aziz Azion’s Westend Entertainment.
The RnB singer, however, acknowledged that he was forced to walk away from Firebase because of his father, who had a different perception of the company he kept.

Because the crew name rhymed with smoking, the singer’s father thought they were living a wayward life and didn’t want his son to be associated with them, emphasizing that it was only a misconception because the members lived a completely different life.

“Truthfully, I had wanted to move out of Firebase for one reason. My father was always looking for me. He always saw me hanging out with them and there was no way I could convince them that they acted very differently from their persona,” “Some people might even think that Mikie Wine takes alcohol yet all the time I was with him, I knew he never did. He never drank alcohol. But every time my father heard that I was in Firebase, he concluded that it was connected to smoking because of how it rhymed with the name of the crew,” he said.
