MamiDeb’s husband, Michael Cleave, has shared insights into his journey to financial success, revealing how he built a business from scratch and eventually sold his controlling interest for £32 million.
Speaking at an event where he addressed aspiring entrepreneurs, Michael explained that he left school at the age of 15 and started working, first in a bar before undertaking an apprenticeship as an electrician.
He said he used the skills he acquired, alongside savings from his earnings, to prepare himself for business opportunities.
Michael revealed that an opportunity later presented itself, allowing him to invest in a startup that initially had no customers, clients, premises or significant capital.
His investment paid off, with him eventually selling his controlling interest in the business for £32 million while retaining a stake in it. He added that five years later, the same business was valued at £70 million.

He used his experience to encourage the audience to recognise that university education is not the only path to success, stressing the importance of practical skills, hard work, a positive attitude and financial discipline.
