Events MC Sandra Sanjah has spoken out on the chaotic events at the recently concluded “Ekitudha” show in Jinja that saw Eddy Kenzo being kicked off the stage by the crowd.
Sandra, who was the stage manager, MC, and programmer, narrated to her followers about how the incidents unfolded, denying the allegations that it was political.
She claimed that artists had a tendency to show up for a concert and disrupt the program and lineup, wishing to perform at the peak hours when the crowds were hyped up.
According to the lineup, Acidic Vokoz was the first on the program, then Ava Peace, Mesach Ssemakula, Catherine Kusasira, and then Eddy Kenzo. The Big Talent boss, however, decided to sneak onto the stage with a big group of people.
Having ignored the lineup, he had his deejay connect his laptop, promising to wait for his artist’s session, but was using it as a trick to hijack the stage. Sandrah claimed that his actions backfired on him when his deejay’s laptop froze and couldn’t play their prepared set. His technicians switched off the audio to their own system, resulting in the sound disruption.
The disruption in the sound system not only frustrated Kenzo, whose microphone was now switched off, but also the crowd that had been at the stadium since morning. Out of anger, they had him kicked off the stage because of how much he was threatening to leave the stage if the issue was not rectified.
“I have seen people circulating rumors that it was political that we refused to play his music because of malice. But it was not true; it was his deejay who forcefully took over the stage and tried to sneak him in but his laptop freezed. Kenzo started asking the crowd if he should leave the crowd. People are frustrated, they come to the stadiums very early and you cannot be asking them such questions. They just told him to leave because they were angry. They started politicizing it,” she said.
