Comedienne Ann Kansiime has spoken out on parenthood after separation, encouraging parents never to deny their children the chance to experience the love of both parents.
Anne Kansiime, who is a mother to a son, during a podcast interview, stressed how important it was for a boy to have a father figure in his life.
Kansiime’s advice was specifically directed to single parents who were raising their children following separation. She explained that lately, especially mothers were using their children as weapons to fight their baby daddies, something she described as shameful.
“These things of carrying your issues you have with a man you looked for to the child yet he wasn’t there. You met the man, gave birth to this child and now you are using the child as a weapon to manage your wars with your baby daddy. Let us just give children an opportunity to know both parents and that goes to the men as well,” she said.
The constant fights, she said, denied the innocent children the right to experience and know both parents.

“Two of you need to raise that child. You cannot do that on your own no matter what you need. Raising them very well needs them to be able to access both father and mother,” she said.
Kansiime further advised divorcing couples to always prioritize their children, no matter how messy the divorce was.

“Let them divorce but they are not divorcing the child. I pray that the dust settles and they figure out how to be there for their child. They do not need to be in each other’s face but make a plan for the child that didn’t ask to be brought here. Your relationship doesn’t need to be the same as it was but there has to be room for the child to have both parents in their lives,” she said.
