Singer Catherine Kusasira has spoken out on her retirement, saying that her music would still be played even if she hangs up her boots.
Kusasira spoke to journalists about the future of band music, noting that it would remain a strong pillar of the music industry because of the artistry they invest in their craft.
She made the revelation following Irene Namatovu‘s sold-out concert at Serena Hotel, acknowledging that Namatovu drew a huge crowd despite not having a hit song or trending new music.
“Band music is still strong. We are still so strong. Irene Namatopvu doesn’t even have a new song but is still eating off her music from the 2000s. This means the music we did was very good. We are the teachers of the music industry. I want to take away the belief that we are aging; music never grows old.If you sing sensible music, it never grows stale before listeners. We are teachers,” she said.
Kusasira further described herself as not only a pioneer in music but also a great performer who can easily outshine any other artist, especially the new age artists.

“I’ma performer and a singer. Not to blow my trumpet but I’m a lion amongst the women and when I roar, it will take someone else so much to come out. What is special about me, I’m a singer and a performer and I have my music. I’m someone who took my time with my music and didn’t sing out of the blue,” she said.
