The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) ED Hon. Nyombi Thembo has warned social media content creators who use the titles Kojja and Ssenga while sharing explicit content online, saying their actions could land them in trouble with the law.
Hon. Nyombi Thembo made the caution in a video shared online, where he noted that he had taken note of several content creators who, he said, had made it a habit to speak vulgar language online to gain attention, views and likes.
He made it clear that he didn’t have a problem with them getting money from their content but advised them to limit what they shared on public platforms.
Nyombi noted a shift in the tradition with the Kojjas and Ssengas from years back, who played a huge role in guiding the society. They, however, did this respectfully and never uttered explicit words in public for attention.

He described such content as inappropriate because it is shared on public platforms easily accessible to children. As UCC, Thembo revealed they were tracking down the creators of such content and that they would soon be summoned to explain themselves before further action.

Nyombi Thembo further warned bloggers and influencers who continue to give vulgarity a platform.
“Stop putting these things on social media and the big words you say out loud are supposed to be said privately. Our forefathers spoke some of these cryptically but you do not do it anymore because you are looking for likes and attention. We shall come for you all. Be careful and to the influencers with platforms that host these people should be very careful. We shall take away those licenses and authorization. You host people who speak ill about people and sear their names but you never say anything to condemn them,” he said.
