Swangz Avenue singer Vinka has opened up about juggling motherhood and her music career, citing that the journey has not been smooth sailing.
Vinka welcomed her baby girl at the start of 2021, and during her YouTube interview, she revealed that she nursed her for only four months.
She reflected on her very first experience leaving her young daughter behind to travel to South Sudan for a show, saying she couldn’t turn it down since it had been booked months prior to her giving birth, and felt guilty that she started questioning her abilities as a good mother.
“I started questioning whether what I was doing as a mother and what my child would think of me. Balancing is the hardest thing but with time you get used to it,” she said.
Unlike other artists who move around with their toddlers, Vinka always chooses to leave her daughter home to avoid inconveniencing her. With this, she has found a way to juggle being a mother and entertaining her fans.

Vinka further looked back at a particular incident when she traveled with her daughter to LA for a performance, and she had planned to leave her at her friend’s place, but because she was jet lagged, she fell asleep.

“I thought during this time, I would rush and do the gig and come back. By the time I came back, she was crying so much. Imagine going to the stage and receiving a call that your child is crying and you have to first speak to them. It is very hard, motherhood, the work; balancing all that is very hard but we try,” she said.
Vink further credited herself for doing the job well for the past six years.
