Singer Yiya Mozey Kayanja has opened up about the rise and fall of his once vibrant music career.
Yiya Mozey started his journey alongside Ziza Bafana, and before their split, they released hit songs like “Tebakulimba” and “Ono Yeyankuba,” among others, that topped charts across the country.
While many expected him to have reaped big from his fame, Yiya Mozey, during his TikTok live stream, acknowledged that it all amounted to nothing. He revealed to his followers that the best he got from the little money he had was to feed himself, but most times, he failed to acquire the basic needs of life.
“The songs I did with Bafana were some of my biggest songs, but also the ones I never earned a single penny from. I might have gotten what to eat like any other person, but I never had a concert with them, or bought something basic like a television that is actually cheap; but I couldn’t afford that either,” he said.
By 2013, Yiya Mozey had fallen off the music scene despite his ex-music partner, Ziza Bafana, further soaring his musical ambitions. He stressed that it took some time for him to accept that his career had hit a dead end, and he continued to release music, which still didn’t get the attention of music lovers.
At that time, Yiya Mozey revealed that he never owned a YouTube channel to earn from. All his hits were uploaded on a third party’s account, and when he finally decided to own one, it still performed poorly with only 42 subscribers and less than 100 views on all the videos.

“I took a long time to accept my downfall. From 2013 to 2017, I was in denial, thinking I was still on top yet I had fallen. In 2017, I released songs like Onana, My woman and put them on my YouTube channel. My biggest song on my channel was just my interview on Bukedde TV with 300 views. Thought they were so powerful because the songs I uploaded always less than 100 views. I had 42 subscribers and most of them were my friends whom I forcefully made to subscribe. I looked for these people myself but they hadn’t subscribed willingly,” he said.
