The Uganda Film Festival (UFF) 2026 has postponed all scheduled activities, including filmmakers’ workshops, film screenings, and the Awards Gala that was set for June 5, following guidance from the Ministry of Health on Ebola prevention measures.
The decision comes shortly after UFF hosted a meeting with producers of films nominated in the Viewers’ Choice Awards category, including Waka Waka, Longing to Belong, You May Kiss the Bride Goodbye, ADUI, and Maama Wange. The session highlighted ongoing efforts to support and promote Uganda’s growing film industry.
A key development ahead of the Uganda Film Festival postponement was MultiChoice Uganda’s commitment to sponsor free cinema screenings for nominated films, allowing audiences to watch local productions at no cost.

UFF organizers emphasized that the safety of filmmakers, audiences, partners, and stakeholders remains the top priority. New dates for all festival activities will be announced in due course.
