Lydia Jazmine has spoken out about the rampant incidents that involve members of the crowd sexually harassing female artists on stage.

A few days back, Tracy Melon was a guest performer in one of the bars in Mbarara, where she cut short her session, citing sexual harassment.

Speaking about the incident, Lydia Jazmine acknowledged in a TV interview that it happened to many female artists, even though many of them didn’t come out to speak about it.

As female stars, Jazmine revealed they had genuine fans who loved and admired them, but there was also a section of hooligans who attended their shows with ill intentions, and amidst the crowd, it was hard to pick them out.

Reflecting on her past experience, Jazmine recalled a recent incident in Gulu in which she was paid millions, and someone from the crowd happened to violate her on stage. However, her bouncer swiftly carried him off the podium.

She revealed that she had no reason to abandon the entire show and leave her fans entertained because of just one person. Instead, she will have them thrown out and continue with her performance.

“That one person cannot disrupt my show and prevent my real fans from enjoying my performance. Those who take ages without seeing me. You cannot leave a place where they have paid you 10 million plus to sing because of one person. I love my fans and respect them; those who don’t are my fans, and they should be kicked out immediately. We carry on with the show. How are you leaving that person who paid you and the place because people can easily get angry and destroy property,” she said.

Lydia Jazmine further advised event promoters and organizers to always have security around the stage to protect female artists from such incidents.
