Legendary musician Shanks Vivie’D, real name Ivan Shaan Mugerwa, has announced a major comeback in the music industry.
Shanks Vivie’D, speaking in a TV interview, announced to his fans that he had released new music, explaining that at first, it was not easy because he didn’t have connections to move his music around, but now that he is signed under new management, his work is being handled by professional managers who are now moving his songs around.
“Music has been slow, given the fact that I didn’t have so many connections. But right now, I’m under a management group called Urban Life Productions and working with different managers who are moving my music around,” he said.
Shanks Vivie’D was among the legendary artists who introduced music lovers to the unique genre of urban pop at a time when Lingala and South African music dominated the industry.

He believes there is still room for him to connect with his fans and show them his old self, saying he has evolved over time. He explained that his new music is better than his previous songs, noting that he has matured and has a range of musical elements at his fingertips.
“The music that I’m bringing is better than the music I did before. My music is more mature, and I have new music on my YouTube channel, and the media is playing the songs out there; it is going well,” he said.
Shanks Vivie D inspired a number of artists like Jose Chameleone, who have admitted that they owe him their careers. He is known for his hit songs, including Kakokolo, Atamukute, Nkooye Engambo, and Bundu Balibuzaani.
