Musician Jose Chameleone has confessed that he doesn’t wish to join or support Bobi Wine and the NUP party, despite wishing them well in their political endeavors.
Jose Chameleone at one point crossed over to NUP with a bid to contest for the mayoral office, but was denied the card, hence tracing the party exit. While speaking to veteran TV personality Masembe, Chameleone expressed disappointment at how Bobi Wine treated him, vowing never to support them again.
Jose Chameleone subsequently switched his loyalty to NRM, and as a 46-year-old, he would rather support one party, NRM, where he feels he is loved, than jump from one political party to another. This, however, didn’t mean that he hates Bobi Wine. He not only wished him well but also confessed his love for him, both as his brother and through his music.
“I do not hope to support Bobi Wine or NUP. Not at this time, and I’m growing old. I’m soon turning 50 years old, and I will die at my party. But I wish him well, and I want him to win one day. I love my NUP friends truly.
People should stop creating hate just because of what we support. We love different things. I once went to NUP, but I realized I was lost. Not because of anything, but it didn’t sit right with me. I joined because I loved Bobi Wine as my brother, but he didn’t care about me, so I went back to my father (Museveni). I do not hate him, but I love him and enjoy his music,” he said.

Speaking about the Bobi Wine wave and the thousands of people he attracted during his campaigns, Chameleone mocked him, saying they didn’t amount to real voters and didn’t hope that he would win the election. He, however, pleaded with him to be a good leader if he ever makes it to the big office one day.
“He has a huge number of people who are his fans but not voters. They want to see Bobi Wine as a star and not the president. Those who attend Museveni’s rallies come to see their president…When you become president, please be a good leader if God gives you that chance. We also want to admire you the way we do to President Museveni,” he said.
