CAF Revoked Kitende Licence due to Delays in Namboole Renovation – Magogo

FUFA President Moses Magogo has revealed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revoked the hosting license of St. Mary’s Stadium to expedite the renovation of Namboole Stadium.
In November 2019, CAF blacklisted Namboole due to its unfitness to host international games. As a result, FUFA sought a temporary license to host Uganda’s games at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
Magogo revealed that due to delayed works at Namboole, CAF was forced to withdraw the Kitende Stadium license, leading FUFA to host games abroad, which he noted became very expensive.
“Nothing is as bad and expensive as hosting from abroad. First it is very costly yet the federation doesn’t generate any revenue. Sportingly the team loses its home advantage which directly affects the performance,” he said.
He thanked the UPDF for completing the renovation works, which now allows Uganda to host both World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria on home soil.
