Big field anticipated at 2022 seniors’ golf tourney, UCAA funds the championship

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has for the 7^th year since inception funded the Uganda seniors’ golf championship.

UCAA has offered Shs 10,000,000 in cash, trophies and branded golf T-Shirts for the 2022 edition, as announced during the press briefing on Tuesday, November 29.

This year’s championship will take place on Saturday, 3^rd December 2022 at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club as a flagship event for the Aviation week festivities (1^st to 7^th December).

Uganda Senior Golfing Society chairperson Sam Onek appreciated the main sponsors (UCAA).

Onek also elucidated upon the value of the senior golfing society in the development process of golf in Uganda.

“The senior golf championship is a prestigious competition after the Uganda Open. I therefore wish to appreciate the UCAA and the other partners on board. The cardinal objective of the senior golfing society is to promote and develop the game of golf across the country among the seniors” Onek revealed.

Flagship event of aviation week:

The principal of Public Relations at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Vianney Luggya revealed that for a long time now UCAA has fronted the seniors’ golf championship as the flagship event for the annual aviation week in Uganda.

Luggya added that chess (Rwabushenyi memorial open) and a stake-holders workshop will also be held.

“Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCCA) is humbly pleased to be associated with the Uganda senior golfing society. The tournament is a flagship event to Aviation week festivities running 1^st to 7^th December 2022. This is a way of supporting stake-holders, giving back through CSR; health and sport areas. Golfers are frequent flyers and I therefore wish to thank the Uganda Seniors Golfing Society. They are therefore important in terms and accountability and mileage. We shall also have the Rwabushenyi memorial chess tournament (1^st to 4^th December 2022) at Kiwatule Recreational centre, Ntinda and a stake-holders engagement workshop on the 7^th December 2022 at Kampala Serena Hotel.” Luggya noted.

The main sponsors (UCAA) are joined by other partners as Turkish Airlines, Uganda Airlines, CASE Medicare, Fairway Hotel, Pinnacle Security, Gorilla Trackers, NBS Sport, Crown Beverages Limited among others.

Prizes:

The outstanding golfers in the male and female dockets will handsomely be rewarded with glittering trophies, air tickets and other goodies.

UCAA’s team of golfers will compose of experienced golfers as Michael Tumusiime, Joseph Adrapi, Paul Kalemba and Collins.
