A woman has narrated to a court in Ndola, Zambia, that her husband of 22-years went behind her back and got a second wife in another province.
Karen Chungu filed a divorce suit against husband Andrew Kapembwa for marrying another woman.
I don’t want a polygamous marriage,
Karen The scorned woman told the Kabushi local court that she did not want to be in a polygamous marriage which is why she was seeking divorce.
Karen disclosed that there is a day she was hoping to get intimate only to discover that Andrew had shaved. “I wanted to have a meeting held over why his private parts are clean, but he told me to keep quiet about it,” she complained.
The complainant added that the problems in their marriage continued to the extent that he chased her from the house, and when the elders were involved he ran away.
Couple have intimacy challenges Karen also opened up on the intimacy challenges in the union, disclosing that the two had not made love for the past one year. Asked for his opinion,
Andrew told the court that he has tried having a sit-down with his wife to resolve their differences but she turned him away.
Andrew also explained that he did not get intimate with Karen because she always rejected his advances.
Husband ordered to pay K30,000 compensation
Senior Presiding Magistrate John Kabwe and senior Magistrate Emelda Masuwa granted divorce on grounds that reconciliation efforts had failed.
Even though Andrew told the court that he did not want to divorce his wife, he was dismissed because he had already married another woman.
He was ordered to compensate his wife with K30,000 (UGX 6,624,309.86) in monthly instalments of K500 (UGX 110,405.16).
