    Ex Entebbe Deputy Mayor Warned Over Grabbing Gov’t Land

    Former deputy mayor Richard Ssekyondo has been warned over grabbing government land in Entebbe.

    This follows after the deputy mayor now new Div ‘B’ chairperson developing container shops next to the Bus market without getting authority from the town clerk Charles Magumba and division authorities headed by Jane Scholastic Baguma now the new division ‘A’ chairperson.

    The former mayor now division ‘B’ chairperson with several others including outgoing councilors grabbed the government owned land and ‘put’ metallic containers in the small piece of land adjust to Entebbe mosque.

    The development picked a lot of storm from the concerned residents and local authorities to suspend all the ongoing developments that the deputy mayor was engineering with several others on the run.

    We have highly established that the former deputy mayor had request the town clerk to use that small piece of land to put containers at the Bus market main street in a letter dated 20th April 2021 and signed by one of the top authorities.

    The letter granted him permission to use the contested land for a period of 10years  to put containers under Min. 059/PPC-04/2021.

    The physical planning committee granted him permission to use the  small piece of land  and  no addition structure shall be erected without  approval.

    The deputy mayor was also advised  to pay ground rent and other municipal council dues like any other business person or trader.

    The new division ‘A’ Jane Scholastic Baguma couldn’t stomach after the deputy mayor waking up in the morning to erect storied containers without making any  communication to the area authorities over the development.

    Councilor Richard Wamala said in his comment that unfortunately the people we chose to protect us are now feeding from us. This is how during broad day light the Division ‘B’ chairman and former deputy Mayor  has began swallowing up the  fish market and could  this be truth and justice in him.

    Meanwhile the Inspector General of Government has been forwarded a complain from a whistle blower  over the private developer that erected several metallic containers at the  Kitooro taxi. The letter dated 27th May 2021 high lights how shs 9bn for the construction of the modern taxi in Entebbe  is under queries after a private developer encroached on part of the government owned and put metallic containers  on the same World bank fund project land.
