    Man Hands Self to Police After Killing Wife

    A 40-year-old Mutwa man in Kisoro district is being detained at Kisoro police station over assaulting his 32-year-old wife, leading to her eventual death.

    The man identified only as Bagoorane, a resident of   Gitebe village, in Kanaba Sub County on Easter Sunday handed himself to his village Chairman after assaulting his wife, one Ndamirehe.

    This was after he found the wife in a bar with other men, according to Police.

    Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman said Ndamirehe was assaulted from the couple’s home in Gitebe village and after realizing that the woman had died, Bagoorane reported himself to the area LC 1 Chairman, who handed him over to the Police at Kanaba Sub County.

    The village Chairman Hitimana John says the incident took place on Sunday morning.

    Maate says Police visited scene and took the body to Kisoro Police Station for post-mortem after which it was handed over to the relatives for burial.

    The case of suspected murder was registered at Kisoro District Police Station under reference number CRB 168/2021.
