The Archbishop of Kampala Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has issued a decree allowing all believers who wish to eat meat in today’s celebration of Solemnity of St Joseph, to go ahead and do so.
In letter dated 19th March 2021 addressed to all believers, signed the Archbishop and Fr Pius Male Ssentumbwe the Chancellor, Lwanga noted that this year’s celebrations have fallen on Friday, when the faithful are not supposed to eat meat
“In line with Cannon, 87 and 1, I disperse all the faithful of Kampala Archdiocese who desire to eat meat today as we celebrate the Solemnity of St Joseph from requirement of Can 1251,” the letter reads.
Fridays in lent period, Good Friday and Ash Wednesday are some of the days when believers abstain from riding to Church law (C-1249-1253).
