President Yoweri Museveni’s Military Advisor, Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso has said security forces in the country will not stop doing their job, because of pressure from the opposition.
Speaking in light of the allegations of continued disappearance of mostly members of the National Unity Platform, Nalweyiso questioned why every arrest taking place recently is being tagged as politically motivated.
Yet according to the general, since the close of the election season, crime has not stopped which means that security has to continue doing its work; ridding society of the wrong elements.
“I don’t understand when people say there are more arrests taking place, because the thieves are still stealing, those who beat up people are still doing so; the criminals are still at work.”
Nalweyiso’s comments at her office in Nakasero yesterday, followed those of NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Bobi Wine, who told Parliament earlier in the week that members of his party were still being targeted by security.
Bobi Wine cited examples of people that he said were arrested and detained in unknown places where they were tortured.
On Thursday, Bobi Wine posted gruesome pictures of a one Fabian Luuka, who he said “was kidnapped a few weeks back and subjected to grave torture by operatives.”
“He was dumped in Nakawa welfare team has done everything to support his treatment. He passed on yesterday,” Bobi Wine alleged.
However according to Gen Nalweyiso, not everybody that is being arrested belongs to NUP.
“I don’t think that when security personnel are arresting a person they first ask them which party they belong to. We have to get rid of the criminal whether or not there is an election.”
Nalweyiso also confirmed that the numberless vans infamously known as drones are still in us by security, but warned that some wrong elements could still be using them to for their own intentions.”
