Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban planning has launched training programs for municipal development forums spread across the country to promote governance.
The ministry officials last weekend rolled out a 2days training program for municipal development forum executive members in Entebbe.
“The principal value for municipal develop forums is collective responsibility of all stake holders contribution towards integrated planning and sustainable urban development” in the report.
Uganda has 26 municipal development forums spread across the county and these include Mbale,Mbarara,Masaka,Moroto,Kabale,Hoima,Apac,Kamuli,Kitgum,Kasese,Masindi,Mukono,Lugazi and others.
Their several urban concerns in municipalities and cities that need to be addressed by government and these include trade order, improved urban services, keeping towns clean, reducing urban poverty& unemployment, Enhancing urban governance, Social equity and inclusion plus others.
“Municipal development forums have been started and launched in different towns, cities and municipalities as a spring boards towards good governance and development” said Mr. Godfrey Bwandinga also president for Entebbe Municipal Forum during the 2days training program where different sector members were inducted.
Mayor Vicent Kayanja Depaul credited the outgoing development forum members headed by Godfrey Bwandinga also new president for the incoming development forum for the cordial working relationship and not failing him during his term of office.
