In a COVID19 hit Masaza Cup championship, Gomba County triumphed over Buddu 3-1 to lift the 2020 trophy at the picturesque St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday, 6th March 2021 behind closed doors.
Tournament top scorer Charles Bbaale, George Kaddu and Fred Gift scored the goals for Gomba.
Titus Ssematimba got the consolation for Buddu on the sunny evening.
As early as the second minute, Jackson Ssemugabi had a great run down the left flank to assist Bbaale who tapped home past goalkeeper Farouk Yawe Ssebanja.

The joy was short-lived with Ssematimba’s glancing header on 8 minutes after a well delivered corner kick by Sharif Ssengendo.
It was Gomba again with Kaddu’s venomous free-kick over 40 yards on the quarter hour mark.
The final coating arrived with an odd goal by defender Gift after beating an off-side trap before slotting the ball home.

With no further goals in the second half, Gomba lost numerical advantage when hard tackling midfielder Fred Atuhwera was sent for an early shower following a second bookable offence with five minutes to play.

Gomba was rewarded with gold medals and Shs 12,000,000. The runners up (Buddu) got silver medals accompanied by Shs. 9,000,000.
Busiro who beat Bulemeezi 5-3 in post match penalties were rewarded with bronze medals and Shs. 7,000,000 whilst the fourth placed team (Bulemeezi) got Shs. 5,000,000.
