The  market  is part of the 12 modern markets that have been constructed by the Uganda government across the country.

The market has been installed with modern ultra systems including cold rooms for perishables, kids resting rooms fro breast feeding mothers, health center and solar panels for lighting.

Isabirye Marijan said during the minister’s visit that “The vendors were involved in all the market construction process right from the beginning of the work plan and all the necessary adjustments were carried out to that effect.

‘All vendors and traders will be resettled in the market without any ‘politicking’ as earlier claimed’ despite the delays in the construction that has taken over 4years’, said chairman.

We have highly established that the market budget was increased from shs15bn to shs 27bn following political squabbles from the top supremos fighting the project now located in the town centre.

The storied market project has over 900 lock-ups and stalls to be used by traders and vendors that have been ‘littering’ the streets and shop verandas.

The municipal authorities said during the last site-visit  revealed that ‘ No person will be allowed to work on the road side after the commissioning of the market’.
