Thousands of youth across the country have voted their leaders to take up offices ahead of the 2021 general elections. For the last two days, the whole country has been washed with joy and tears after a new pressure group taking key positions in the youth polls across the country.
The youth elections started with violence, rigging and others forms of electoral mal practices including tear gas and gun shooting. In Entebbe the opposition ruled over the ruling party in the youth polls at several polling stations despite the military deployments.
At the Kitooro leisure park, two NRM party supporters voted for one Muwonge Hizil which saw People Power candidate Damba Wycliff loss the heated race at 63 votes against 61.Independent candidate Bulega Deo scored less than 4votes.
Nsubuga Sam and one Kiwewa were taken not stepping and thrown outside the gate with one Sssesanga who wasn’t in the electoral commission register which give an upper hand to the opposition to take the executive committee by 90%.
In Bugonga village, the area chairman Byansi Stephen was thumped over disrupting the youth polls where one Juma Kalema of the People Power was battling it out with NRM party’s Freedom Mutabazi. And more so, highly placed sources revealed that People Power was playing ping-pong till yesterday with no elections and opting for another election.
At the Katabi polling station, tear gas and gun shooting rocked the youth polls which forced the electoral commissions officials postponed the electoral activities to the following day.
At the Kiwafu East polling station, Ntaate John Paul of the NRM party scored 120votes flooring People Power candidate Ssemuyamba Shadick as Kiwafu West turned a battle field at the Muslim primary school.
Heavy military deployment at three youth polling stations saw the youth vote People Power than the ruling party. At the Entebbe Comprehensive polling station, two NRM party supporters including councilor Emma Seguya with his candidate identified as Anthony Wepukuru were wounded as People Power candidate Sserunjogi Richard House was voted winner.In the same race, ALU candidate Richard Kyesiga scored 30vote only as the NRM party supporters got frustrated over voting their candidate.
At Banga Nakiwogo polling station one Bogere Difasi, aged 24 yrs was displined by plain clothed military officers over giving them headache as NRM party candidate Kyagera Lawrence garnered 160votes against Lunkuse Godfrey bagged 139votes on People Power ticket.
At the same polling station CBS radio correspondent George William Kakooza had running battles with military officers while on duty.
Democratic Party chairman Makumbi Francis revealed that youths were given bribes and intimidated during the voting process hence denying them their democracy.
