Sharon Ruth Nansamba is a politician and woman activist. She is a mother of four who’s hope of seeing her children grow is now under threat after being diagnosed with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH).

Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension, according to medics is caused by blood clots. It is a form of pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure, affecting the lungs.

According to Male Moses, the only son and eldest of the four children of Nansamba, his mother’s health has been steadily deteriorating ever since she was diagnosed. He says that the clots have now extended from the lungs and now weakening her heart.

According to Male, the problem started six years ago as the mother was carrying the pregnancy of their last born.

“It started six years as she was carrying the pregnancy of our last born. She developed clots in the body and these further spread to the heart (dilated right cardiac chambers with severe pulmonary hypertension),” Male said.

Doctor’s at the Heart Institute in Mulago where Nansamba is currently admitted have referred her to India for a heart surgery and a pulmonary rehab.

Doctors said that due to the severity of her condition, Nansamba needs to seek further medical attention in India.

Her transfer to India and all the costs affiliated to her medication while there will cost a total of $20,000 (About 73 million shillings), a figure the family says that they don’t have.

The family now seeks financial support to help Nansamba access further treatment to normalise her health condition.

They have now organized a car wash charity fundraising event on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at Magic Car Park, opposite Theater La Bonita in Kampala, starting 8AM until 6PM to try and raise funds for Nansamba to go to India.

They have also availed public lines number +256755504520 and +256782332747 for further inquiries
