Over 161 Sseninde Foundation pioneering Entebbe Centre graduands have been urged to utilize the Entrepreneurship skills that they have acquired so as to start their small businesses that will help them earn a living. Hon. Rose Sseninde, the State Minister for Primary Education and Wakiso Women Member of Parliament who presided over the thanks giving party for the Entebbe Centre graduands on Wednesday at Peniel Beach in Entebbe urged the graduands to put the knowledge and skills they have acquired into proper use.

She hailed the graduands for sparing time to attend the courses that were held at Lake Victoria School and called on Ugandans to stop minimizing jobs and the Entrepreneurship skills that are offered to them free of charge.

“In the past I used to organize entrepreneurship trainings in soap and Vaseline making but unfortunately very few people would attend and wouldn’t put the skills acquired into practice but I’m grateful to the Entebbe team headed by Sentabile Clemence for they turned up in big numbers for the training and have been able to showcase the skills they have acquired in bakery, tailoring and hairdressing. Our next goal is to teach the women the benefits of saving. I’m glad that President Museveni has recognized our efforts in skilling women and has pledged to support towards the foundation”, Minister Sseninde stated.

She instructed the graduands in bakery, hairdressing and tailoring to immediately form and register their groups so as to benefit from the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship program (UWEP) Funds. Minister Sseninde appealed to the Entebbe leadership fraternity to help and set up an Entrepreneurship centre where the graduands will operate from.

The Entebbe Municipality RDC Nalongo Rose Kirabira thanked all the women who spared their time to attend the courses adding that through Sseninde Foundation, women in Entebbe have proved that with a positive mental attitude, women in Uganda can be successful. She however warned the graduands against hatred, greed and infighting that are eating up Uganda. She pledged to donate four sewing machines to Sseninde Foundation Entebbe Centre.

Meanwhile Hon. Rose Tumusiime promised to ensure that all the women benefit from the UWEP Funds.

A total of 1771 graduands mainly women in Wakiso District acquired skills in Bakery, hairdressing and tailoring and attained certificates of completion courtesy of Sseninde foundation and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Entrepreneurship centre.
