

Two South African female nationals have been arrested by Entebbe
Aviation police over illegal possession of narcotic drugs amounting to 4,642gms worth Shs 315m.
Emiliane Kayima, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson
identified the narcotic drug dealers as Nk cosolwana Funitwe Abegail and Grace Onyia Golle both natives of South Africa.
According to the police publicist boss, Nk cosolwana jetted in Uganda on 11 November 2016 aboard South Africa Airways with a suit case containing 856gms of cocaine while Grace Onyia jetted into the country on 16 November 2016 aboard Ethiopian airlines with a suit case containing 3,786gms of concealed cocaine.
He revealed that the suspects were netted after aviation police became suspicious of their baggage before subjecting the baggage to a drug detecting machine and sniffer police dogs.
He noted that most drug dealers use Entebbe Airport as a conduit to
transport narcotic drugs adding that police is on alert and shall
leave no stone unturned.

He expressed dismay on the old Law which calls for a fine of One Million Uganda Shillings (Shs 1m) for anyone convicted of illegal possession of narcotic drugs and called on parliamentarians to champion and expedite the enactment of the proposed new Law which provides for payment of a court fine worth Shs 10m or paying thrice the value of drugs impounded from the convict.
He further disclosed that the intelligence sources indicate that one
of the suspects identified as Onyia who was set to board Ethiopian
airlines and was destined to Botswana while her partner in crime her destination is still an unknown.
