Police in Kyankwanzi are investigating the murder of a 20-year-old man who went missing on February 8, 2022 at 8:00 pm from his parents’ home in Kabaale village, Banda sub-county, Kyankwanzi district.
The deceased has been identified as Loliela Jeremiah Raston, a son to Mukiibi Livingston and Nailabiri Julian, residents of the same area.
According to Police, the deceased was left home to take care of the household while his parents moved to Kampala for a few days.
While they were away, Raston’s mother tried calling him several times on February 8, but his numbers were off which prompted her to inform the area chairperson.
“Unfortunately, on February 10th she received a phone call from a fisherman Moses Ssemwogerere at river Mayanja informing her that a dead body was discovered tied in a sack and floating on water along the river,” said Wamala Region PRO Rachael Kawala.
Police were informed, rushed to the scene and retrieved the body from the river. It was wrapped in two sacks joined together, and tied with an old mosquito net.
“A post-mortem has been done and found that the deceased was deeply cut on the forehead and the chin causing his instant death,” Kawala added.
Exhibits of sack, clothes, and blood swabs of the body have been picked to help in investigations and efforts to have suspects arrested are underway.
“The body has been handed over to relatives for a decent burial,” Kawala added.
