A few days ago, 11-year-old Joseph Mukasa (black trouser) a pupil of Nsamizi primary school was on his way from a shop when he met three cats that often eat poultry in the neighborhood of Banga, Nakiwogo.
Out of anger, he threw a stone at them, and they ran away. At that moment, he realised that he had saved a barn owl. He picked up the injured bird and alerted his friends; Brian Eragu ( black & white checkered shirt) and Emma Lusaana(maroon t-shirt), aged 12 & 10 respectively.
Mukasa informed the father about the rescue who advised him along with his friends to deliver the bird to UWEC. At the centre, they were received by the curator who welcomed them, educated them about the barn owl, took them for lunch and ensured they tour UWEC.

The curator requested the excited boys to name the bird, to which they agreed to call it, Mukasa Joseph. They were also guided to the Veterinary hospital where bird is undergoing rehabilitation.
Together we must inspire more young conservation heroes like Joseph, Emma & Brian.
