Musician Ziza Bafana has defended his appearance at the recently concluded Uganda National Musicians Federation event, which was organized to officially launch President Museveni’s campaigning album.
Having previously boasted about being a strong supporter of the opposition, particularly the NUP, Ziza Bafana surprised netizens when he attended the album launch clad in a face mask, seemingly to hide away from the cameras.
In his defense, he attended the event out of respect and the friendship he shares with Eddy Kenzo, which he says is far beyond the political parties they support. He noted that his presence didn’t signify that he had betrayed his party.
Ziza Bafana acknowledged that Bobi Wine was once his inspiration, not only in music but also in his lifestyle, as a ghetto-born and bred person who has emerged as a pivotal figure in the country.
Bafana stated that he performed for Bobi Wine when he won the Member of Parliament seat, and he believes the NUP leader understands his fight for change more than anyone attacking him.
He, however, expressed his disappointment in the foot soldiers who, he says, have just joined the party but pretend to love it more than him.
“It is surprising that the people who have just gotten to know who Bobi Wine is want to take it personally, not knowing we have our mission. NRM keeps sending spies in opposition. When you see me in any NRM event, it doesn’t mean I have betrayed Bobi Wine,” he said.
