The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has passed out 62 soldiers who successfully completed a specialized Oracle Systems training program aimed at enhancing the army’s digital and data management capabilities.
The training, conducted at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Mbuya, focused on building expertise in Oracle database administration, cybersecurity, and digital systems integration.
The initiative is part of the UPDF’s broader strategy to modernize its information technology infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
Speaking at the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, who represented the Chief of Defence Forces, commended the graduates for their commitment and emphasized the importance of technological competence in modern military operations.
“Today’s battlefield requires more than physical strength — it demands intelligence, innovation, and mastery of digital tools,” he said.
He added that the newly trained officers will be deployed across different departments to strengthen data management and enhance the army’s ICT-based decision-making systems.
Officials from the Ministry of Defence and Oracle Technologies applauded the partnership, noting that it reflects the UPDF’s growing focus on digital transformation and professionalism.
