Ugandan TikToker Richard Kasirye has been remanded over the misuse of his TikTok account after posting content that disrespected the President of Uganda.
22-year-old Richard Muhanji recorded several videos and posted them on his TikTok account, assuring the government that they didn’t have the right to his life. He revealed that God had the supreme power to decide on who lived and who died.
The clips were shared widely, forcing law enforcement to raid his home in Lwengo, where they picked him up and locked him up.
He was later arraigned before the Masaka Grade One Magistrate Abdallah Kayizi to answer to charges of disrespecting the president of Uganda. Muhanji denied the charges against him and was remanded until the 11th of this month.

Muhanji’s mother, Maria Ntegyereze, confirmed that her son had shared the disrespectful content, noting that she had turned up to bail out her son.
My son used social media and attacked the president. We had come to bail him out, but unfortunately, they refused to release him.
