The Chairman of the MK Movement, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has welcomed National Unity Platform (NUP) MP Twaha Kagabo to his group.
Kagabo defected from NUP to the MK Movement during the recent launch of the establishment’s Buganda in Mubende district.
Kagabo, who is the MP for Bukoto South, came to Parliament on the NUP ticket in the 2021 election.
Muhoozi welcomed Kagabo at the former’s office in Entebbe on Tuesday.
The former Land Forces commander said he was glad to see Kagabo join a progressive political force aimed at transforming Uganda.
Muhoozi has since declared his presidential bid for 2026. But he would have to retire from the army to contest for the political office.
He says the MK Movement intends to build a resilient modern transport infrastructure, strengthen regional security, create millions of economic opportunities for young people, support the sports, arts, and creative industries, and improve the quality of health and education services in Uganda.
ChimpReports understands that Kagabo, a medical doctor, was accompanied to the meeting by his Kasambya County counterpart, Daudi Kabanda.
Kabanda doubles as the deputy spokesman of the MK movement and a member of the eight man Central Committee (CC).
Kagabo was heavily criticised by opposition activists on social media for abandoning the struggle against the ruling NRM party.
However, Dr Kagabo recently said he could not reject an opportunity to meet and work with Muhoozi, saying the UPDF General has transformative ideas for the country.
Meanwhile, Muhoozi also met with UPDF kickboxing champion Titus Tugume.

He promised to support the boxing champion, who has been winning awards on the international stage.
