Entebbe International Airport experienced a major rise in passenger traffic in August 2025, setting a new record. A total of 243,089 international passengers passed through that month — made up of 116,507 arrivals and 126,582 departures — which averages to about 7,841 people per day.
These figures beat the previous high from July 2025, according to Vianney Luggya, Public Affairs Manager at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
Several factors contributed to this growth. Sports tourism and conferences played a big role in bringing more travelers to Uganda.
On the cargo front, the airport handled 5,257 metric tonnes in August: 2,010 tonnes of imports and 3,247 tonnes of exports. A large share of the exports was fresh produce, underscoring Uganda’s role in supplying agricultural goods to international markets.
According to Luggya, these numbers highlight Entebbe’s increasing importance as a regional air hub and reflect growth in both tourism and trade in Uganda.
