Isaiah Katumwa Releases New Single ‘My Hope’ to Inspire Hope Through Music

A saxophone can say what words sometimes struggle to express. For Isaiah Katumwa, the instrument has become a vehicle for a message that cuts across borders, backgrounds, and personal circumstances: even when life refuses to offer guarantees, there is still room for hope.

That idea takes centre stage in My Hope, the Ugandan saxophonist’s new single released today, October 19, 2026. Rather than relying on lyrics to explain its message, Katumwa lets his saxophone do the talking, inviting listeners to find their own meaning in its melodies.

The release arrives at a point when the Billboard-charting musician is reflecting on what it means to begin again. Years of performing, recording, and building an international audience have given him experience, but not immunity from life’s uncertainties. If anything, he says, those experiences have taught him the importance of looking ahead.

“Hope is not the absence of difficulties. It is the decision to keep believing, even when circumstances do not give you every reason to,” Katumwa says.

It is a message that feels particularly relevant in a world where people are grappling with financial pressures, personal disappointments, and questions about what tomorrow might bring. Katumwa hopes the song offers a moment of reassurance to anyone navigating such circumstances.

“We are living in a time when so many people are carrying different burdens, sometimes silently,” he says. “Whatever season they may be going through, their story is not necessarily finished. There can still be something beautiful ahead.”

Yet My Hope is not a sermon set to music. Its appeal lies partly in the freedom it gives listeners to interpret the composition through their own experiences. One person may hear comfort in its soulful passages; another may find encouragement in its brighter, more uplifting moments.

That openness is central to Katumwa’s approach to instrumental music. Without lyrics to dictate a particular interpretation, the saxophone can communicate emotion in ways that transcend language.

“Instrumental music has a beautiful way of reaching people beyond language,” he says. “Someone listening in Uganda, America, Europe, or anywhere else may be experiencing something completely different, yet the same melody can speak to them personally.”

Musically, the single reflects his signature Afro Smooth Jazz Fusion style, combining the warmth of smooth jazz with African influences and contemporary sounds. It is a balance Katumwa has pursued throughout his career, maintaining a connection to his roots while building a sound that can travel internationally.

For an artist whose music has reached audiences beyond Uganda, that balance is more than a question of identity. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate that African musical influences can find a natural home within global instrumental music without losing their character.

There is also a personal dimension to the release. Katumwa views My Hope not simply as a message to his audience but as a reminder to himself that professional achievements do not mark the end of an artist’s evolution.

His next chapter, he suggests, will involve exploring collaborations, creative opportunities and artist development, extending his interests beyond performing and recording.

“My journey has taught me that we never stop growing, learning or discovering new possibilities. Every chapter prepares us for another,” he says.

That outlook gives My Hope a significance beyond the arrival of another single. It reflects an artist willing to draw from his experiences without being confined by them, and to use his craft to explore what lies ahead.

Ultimately, Katumwa is not promising that life will suddenly become easier. Instead, he offers something less definite but perhaps more enduring: the possibility that difficult seasons can give way to better ones, and that the future need not be a repeat of the past.
Sometimes, all it takes to begin imagining that future is a melody.
