Ugandan singer and percussionist Herman Ssewanyana, who is also a band singer at Afrigo Band, has opened up on Moses Matovu’s son, Ibrah Matovu, taking up his father’s place in the band as the lead singer.
Ssewanyana, who is said to have been appointed as the new band leader, spoke to Spark TV about the possibilities of Ibrah taking up his father’s shoes, as they have been mentoring him for some time.
“We have been mentoring him and he has been with us for some time. We watched him grow. He is a singer and he is the Matovu that we have but he hasn’t got to his father’s level yet. We are still mentoring him so he comes out strong,” Ssewanyana said.
Moses Matovu’s life came to a tragic end last month following a scuffle with Vincent Arnold Nsamba, who is currently behind bars over his murder.
As the former lead singer of the band, Ssewanyana revealed that his shoes are too big to fill, but they were trying their best to see that his son gets there to take up his father’s mantle.
“Matovu’s shoes are too big to fill. He hasn’t got there yet but we are trying to lift him to that level that we want him to be at,” he said.
