Singer Lydia Jazmine has publicly revealed that marriage or getting a husband cannot convince her to quit music.
Lydia Jazmine, during a recent interview, addressed the societal expectations that female musicians are supposed to walk away from their careers after they get married. The singer expressed her disagreement with the notion, emphasizing that she is in music for the passion and love of it.
“Music is part of me. It is passion. It is something that if I do not do it, I can even fall sick. I cannot imagine not releasing music for my fans to listen to. I can imagine not stepping on stage. I cannot do that not even for a year,” she said.
Jazmine believes that as her partner, her husband is expected to be supportive of her career, move with her, and build with her instead of banning her from doing what she loves most.
“You found me doing music, you fell in love with me; I think the best you can do is to support me if you truly love me. I have seen married musicians continue with their careers. Some come to the industry with a target; maybe get a car, build a house, make a name and after they quit. If it was that, I would have quit long time,” she said.
Speaking about her dream man, Jazmine revealed that she desired to settle with an understanding man who will not feel insecure about her job, describing marriage as a institution supposed to be built on love, trust, understanding and commitment.

“When you get married, things change somehow and you start moving on the terms that you have agreed on as a couple. If he feels unsafe with me being out there, he should then go with me. By the time we agree on settling down together, then we are past that level,” she said.
