The event held Saturday at the prestigious Munyonyo Convention Centre, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, key partners, and staff, highlighted the organisation’s remarkable growth and its unwavering commitment to patient care.
Over the past three decades, C-Care has expanded from a single facility into a vast, nationwide network of hospitals and clinics that currently serves nearly 700,000 patients annually. During the Excellence Awards, the organisation recognised its top-performing teams who have successfully met the rigorous pillars of the group’s quality framework. In the night’s most anticipated announcements, C-Care Gulu was proudly crowned the Hospital of the Year, while C-Care Nansana took home the coveted title of Clinic of the Year.
Reflecting on the hospital’s trajectory, the C-Care CEO delivered a powerful address about the network’s future ambitions.
“The next chapter of C-Care will not be defined by how many facilities we open or how many patients we serve. But by whether we can raise the standard of care at scale,” the CEO stated. “Our goal is for C-Care to be known not only as a leading healthcare provider in Uganda, but as an organisation that helps define what excellent healthcare should look like in this region”.
The celebration also paid tribute to the organisation’s roots and its founder, Dr. Ian Clarke, who launched the original facility formerly known as IMG. Reflecting on the milestone, Dr. Clarke shared, “What began with one person and one facility has grown far beyond any individual into a corporate structure capable of driving real change. It is incredibly humbling to see this network continue to invest, expand, and deliver top-tier medical care to hundreds of thousands of Ugandans, all while never taking our patients’ trust for granted.”
Central to C-Care’s enduring success is its dedication to medical capability and patient trust, reflected in its impressive 70% net trust score. To maintain clinical excellence, C-Care has introduced Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for nurses and doctors to continually assess practical knowledge. This focus on continuous professional development and specialization has yielded a remarkable 95% doctor satisfaction rate.
