Veteran singer and radio personality, Tendo Tabel, popularly known as Lady Titie, has opened up about her famous “Ebbaluwa” radio show on Beat FM, noting that traditional healers paid her to fabricate stories.
The “Ebbaluwa” show had Lady Titie read out letters from anonymous people, revealing to listeners their life challenges and seeking advice. She read a letter every day, and listeners engaged actively, making her show one of the most anticipated hours on local radio.
In a recent church confession, however, Lady Titie revealed that she received many letters every day but later discovered that most of them were false. She said that they were written by witch doctors as a way of advertising themselves, that they had healed the victims.
“I had so many letters which were genuine but at one point I discovered that witch doctors were using this chance to advertise themselves. They saw the opportunity to take advantage of the moment. They kept writing these letters and in the end fixing their names as the solution,” she said.
Titie revealed that when she discovered the letters were forged, she kept pushing them aside. This was when they came up with a different strategy, and this time, they always offered to pay her large sums of money.
She confessed that she charged them 1 million to have their letters read out without management’s knowledge.
“I agreed to make a deal with them. They paid me and I read their letters out and pushed the genuine ones aside. I would make 5 million a week. Management didn’t know I was making money and at one point, many decided to pay me higher to have their letters read first.” she said.
This went on for some time until her 6-month-old daughter got a problem, which she considered spiritual. She called all these witch doctors, but none of them was able to heal her.
“They gave me different herbs trying to heal my daughter because it would be a free advertisement but my child never healed. I later realised that God used this to draw me closer to him,” she said.
