Kadongo Kamu singer Abdul Mulaasi has opened up on the rising HIV cases during his era and how he managed to protect himself from the wave.

Abdul Mulaasi, who had nicknamed himself ‘Farm Manager’, was known for releasing songs running on a theme of a man who is always surrounded by women whom he felt entitled to access anytime.

During an interview with Sanyuka TV, he acknowledged that during his era as a young musician, women loved him so much over his good looks, young age, and the fact that he sang songs that adored them.

Despite living this lifestyle that exposed him to the risk of being infected with HIV, Abdul Mulaasi said that he managed to guard himself and come out safe in an era where most artists were succumbing to the deadly virus.

“Most artists are thrown off the rails by intoxication. They use substances and end up going after every woman they see. If you look closely, you will see that the virus is so common in a certain type of woman. That is why we have lost so many young boys in our bands because they always go for those women and use our names to sleep with them,” he said.

Abdul Mulaasi revealed that he entered the music industry at a tender age, and when he was 16 years old, fellow Kadongo Kamu artist Gerald Kiweewa introduced him to protection. He noted that he has had a safe sexual life since then and always made sure that he had his partners tested.

“Some people do not protect themselves by using protection or even testing for HIV. I will never forget Gerald Kiweewa; He used to keep his protection with me when I was like 16 years old. When I started sexual relations, he told me to always use it, and I have never looked back,” he said.
