Media personality Joan Mulungi has opened up about the biggest challenges in life, naming her failed marriage with journalist Gabriel Buule as the biggest one of them all, to the point that it pushed her into thinking about suicide.
The couple got married on April 11, 2024, and Joan says they had publicly supported each other through the ups and downs and from the social media trolls. However, they didn’t last long when news about their separation surfaced online.
This sparked a lot of criticism and debate, and Joan, during her interview with Sanyuka TV, recalled having lost herself and cried for over 36 hours straight because of how fast the drama was unfolding on social media.
“There is a day I won’t forget that I cried for 36 hours. To stop crying, I had to be asleep; something that would have happened midway through crying. Every time I woke up, I remembered I had problems and then cried again afresh,” she said.
Joan further confessed that she thought about taking her own life on four different occasions to end it all. This was because the drama surrounding the separation was greatly affecting her parents, whom she described as very private.

“I pictured the parents who have struggled to raise me looking through the media and seeing what was happening. My parents are private people but watching all those things on the internet always made me think about who I was. The people that know me kept asking how we got there, what we would do but I just kept telling them to extend grace because I didn’t know how it got there. My mother is a strong woman but I was worried about my dad. He is weak like me and we cry easily. We cannot handle problems,” she said.
Buule, during his recent interview, revealed that they were in their final stages of officially separating in the courts of law.
