Media personality Faridah Nakazibwe has pulled out evidence confirming her claims that the newly appointed Junior Local Government Minister Justine Nameere doesn’t follow through with her defamation lawsuits.
Taking to her X account, Nakazibwe shared a 3-minute audio recording of Nameere contacting her lawyer in 2021 amidst the defamation case filed against Nakazibwe (defendant).
In the conversation, Nameere is heard asking the unidentified counsel to suggest to his client whether they could settle outside court.
Nameere, in the audio, suggested a mediation which would have them sit somewhere and Nakazibwe issuing a statement taking back the statements she had said about her.
“If indeed your client is interested in mediation, because for me, I went to court to clear my name. I know what she said I didn’t, and I know she doesn’t have any evidence implicating me… She doesn’t have to move with the court calendar. She can even call me, or you call me outside court; it doesn’t even have to be with my lawyer, we can talk. For me, I want one simple thing: to just put up a statement and put away what she said about me.
If she is really after mediation, it doesn’t have to be at the remote of court; It can be calling me this evening, and we sit somewhere,” she said in the audio.

The dispute comes from years back when Nakazibwe accused Nameere of trying to ruin her relationship with her then boyfriend, Omar Ssali. Nameere responded by filing a defamation suit seeking Ugx 500M in damages in 2019.
The renewed battle comes a few days after Nakazibwe advised Cissy Nanyange not to succumb to Nameere’s legal action threats over a disagreement over unpaid coffee seedlings.

Nakazibwe noted that Nameere had a history of not pursuing her own court cases. In her defence, Nameere alleged that she chose not to go through with the case after Andrew Kyamagero had intervened. She claimed that the case was close to being decided in her favor.
“Andrew intervened; she came clean; she admitted she was in the wrong and I forgave her and left her to the world to manage her,” she said in her interview.
