Singer and songwriter Kalifah Aganaga has opened up about how he has been able to survive in the harsh industry despite not getting constant bookings.
Speaking during his recent interview, Kalifah acknowledged that he didn’t entirely depend on music, claiming that he has expanded his sources of income by opening several side hustles like restaurants, bars, brokerage, among others.
“I’m a city hustler and it is my job. I do a lot of things here and there. That is how I have been surviving. I have an advantage that I have ever dealt in fashion, so I end up selling small things,” he said.
Although many of them have not succeeded, they have helped him earn some money that has helped him cope.
Kalifah is one of the few artists who have a trending song right now that is dominating airwaves. Before the hit song, he revealed that he has continued to get bookings, particularly upcountry where he has built a loyal fanbase.

“God helped me that even when I do not have a hit song, I’m that kind of artist who is more booked than some of these trending artists. There are places I perform at and they do not go there; for example, Nakasongola way up to Gulu, that is my area. Arua promoters love me; I can traverse from Koboko, Arua, Yumbe, Nebbi, cross over to Congo. I know I do not have a hit song; I rely on promoters being my friends. I do not wait for them to call me; I call them first,” he said.
