Dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu has opened up about her current relationship with Western Uganda-based singer Omega 256, noting disputes over the split of royalties and recognition following their collaboration.

See You Tonight was one of the biggest collaborations last year, but it turns out that Cindy and Omega are no longer in good working terms, as each artist performs the song alone despite being at the same event.

Cindy, during a radio interview, revealed that they had issues arising from her team claiming they should be the ones taking all the awards, which she disagreed with.

Cindy emphasized that she sourced and paid the songwriter, recorded it at her studio, and paid for the entire production process without Omega contributing a single penny.

She further explained that the reason why everyone thought Omega was the owner of the song was that she allowed the song to be uploaded to her YouTube channel out of kindness. This was because she didn’t want to take the attention away from her since she needed it more.

“For that reason, we started having this issue because people think it is hers. She even flipped the story into other stories I didn’t know. Even when it came to the distribution of the song, she went way ahead of me; she was fast compared to us. Because it was my song, I took my time. I sent her the sheet to sign, saying I would give her 50%, which Aggie disputed, but I let her have it. She uploaded the song before we did and gave herself 60% of the song and left us 40%, yet everything came from me,” she said.

The song won collaboration of the year at The Zzina Award, and Cindy and her team decided to let Omega have it, saying she needed it more. Describing the situation as weird, Cindy vowed never to work with her again.
