Dancehall singer Roden Y Kabako, real name Yusuf Ssenabulya, has revealed that he has never earned a single penny from his songs on digital platforms after Jeff Kiwa copyrighted and took over them.

Kabako made the revelation as he was addressing the ongoing court case between Sheebah Karungi and Team No Sleep over the copyright of the songs that the singer released while still signed under Jeff Kiwa’s label.

Kabako, who was also signed under the label at the same time as Sheebah before they quit, noted that for all the songs they had released, Jeff registered them as his and was the one earning from them. He claimed that the only time he has managed to earn from his music was on stage while performing for his fans.

“For all the time you have seen me doing music, I have never eaten off my songs. The only money I get in music is from the stage, and I want to thank my fans for giving me a job and keeping me there. I have never received any message from YouTube for my earnings because all my songs were stolen, but I leave it at that. All the songs I made under TNS, I have never earned a single penny,” he said.

Kabako further explained that when he began music under the label, he decided to have his songs uploaded on Sheebah’s YouTube channel, citing her big following. However, when they parted ways with the label, Jeff copyrighted the content and restricted the monetization exclusively to himself.

Kabako acknowledged that he gave up the fight for his music but will wholeheartedly support Sheebah in court, before thanking his fans, who have always booked him and kept him on stage.

“I thank God that I have fans who have always put me on their menu. They have never disappointed me because they do not deal with YouTube, UPRS, but deal with me as a person. They pay for me to appear on stage, and I pray for only one thing in life: never to fall sick. If Sheebah is in court, I’m in court too because she is my friend,” Kabako said.
