Dancehall singer Beenie Gunter, real name Crescent Baguma, has revealed that he is not ready for a new relationship right now following the end of his long-standing relationship.
Last year, Beenie Gunter’s longtime girlfriend and baby mama, Nickie Berry, announced that she had officially parted ways with the singer.
Through a statement shared on her social media handle, she claimed that they had ended their romantic relationship because of irreconcilable differences, with disrespect and infidelity being the key factors in their breakup.
Following their separation, in an interview, Beenie Gunter explained that he was taking his time, noting the complications that come with choosing one’s lifelong partner, saying it wasn’t something he would wake up and do easily.
He stressed that he chose to stay single for a while as he focuses on his music and also waits for the right person.
“Even for people who live together for years, at the end of the day, they separate. I’m not playing this thing of come and go; catch the next one and lose them. I would rather not do it. I would rather stay for years than have something that I’m going to lose again. Put it up and then lose it. It takes time for someone to really be the one, which I’m not focusing on right now. “Now it is about the music,” Beenie Gunter said.

Despite the end of their relationship, they co-parent, and Beenie Gunter expressed how proud he was of being a father. His son’s well-being has motivated him to work hard, so he has no pressure to fall in love right now.
“I give thanks because at least I’,m a father, so there is no rush. I’m a dad, a very proud one at that, and I do not think I can be under pressure to be in a relationship now. This duty is more important than anything else. As long as my son is out there and is well, it gives me energy to do everything else,” Beenie Gunter said.
