Comedy duo Madrat and Chiko have opened up on the vast gap that Reign Omusoyisoyi would have left behind in the comedy industry if he had contested in the upcoming general elections.
Reign was eyeing the Lubaga South MP under NUP. Unfortunately, his dreams were dealt a heavy blow as he never secured the party ticket. During the Kaliisoliiso dinner hosted by the Katikiro of Buganda, Owek Charles Peter Mayiga, comedian Chiko was tasked to address the issue, and he supported the idea.
Chiko revealed that they were looking at developing the comedy industry and couldn’t afford to lose any more comedians to politics. As a parliamentarian, Chiko revealed Reign would abandon his career to focus on political matters.
“Personally, I didn’t like it, but I somehow supported it. It is not that I wish him bad, but we are building something as comedians. Politicians are very busy people. Besides, it didn’t happen to Reign alone; many others didn’t get the card. Maybe if he tries again, they will give him,” he said.

Madrat & Chiko, however, hailed Reign for trying out his luck, vowing to support him in the coming elections if he decides to contest again.
“This decision has advantages and disadvantages, but we advise Reign to stay where he is and do what he has been doing. Reign is still young and maybe they are preparing him for the next time he decides to contest,” he said.
