Tragedy struck on Pakwach Road when three staff members from Muni University lost their lives in a fatal accident.
The accident, which occurred on Friday night, involved a university vehicle that was transporting staff members back from a work-related trip.
According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle reportedly lost control before overturning, killing three staff members instantly. Several others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment.
The university has expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the deceased as dedicated individuals who greatly contributed to the institution’s growth and development. Grief has spread across the academic community as colleagues, students, and families mourn the sudden deaths.
Police have since launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings point to possible overspeeding and poor road conditions as contributing factors. Authorities have urged road users to remain vigilant and observe traffic regulations to prevent further loss of lives on Ugandan highways.
